A Lonely Thanksgiving

I was truly blessed, dare I say privileged, to have my entire Oregon family come join TaylorRae and myself for an early Thanksgiving last week. And I truly hope no one was convinced they must spend a lonely Thanksgiving.

Honestly though, having such a fantastic weekend spending time with family worked up more frustration inside me on how widespread the lie has become that we have no option but to live in constant fear.

There was a time when the lockdowns seemed reasonable because of the uncertainty we were facing, but that uncertainty has long passed.

The pandemic has seemed traumatic, (whoops I misspelled dramatic) but are we just being sold that or is it actually? Has it been worse than the continually increasing steps to isolate us from the majority of the good things available in our lives? Especially friends and family?

If we actually consider statements such as “it’s short term loss for the long term gain of the country” and compare it against the reality of mental health crises, economic destruction, as well as just plain isolation and fear it becomes clear that these statements are truly untrue.

Certain misguided people or groups are working to convince us that to die from coronavirus is worse than dying from depression created by forced loneliness. Some people should make the decision to isolate by their own free will but not everyone.

Today I started reading the book “On Tyranny” by Timothy Snyder and the first page holds this statement; “In politics, being deceived is no excuse” -Leszek Kolakowski.

Is it all worth it? Obviously there is a lot I do not know, but I don’t want to be one to regurgitate statements that daily become more clearly revealed as lies. Even if they are “well meaning” lies. The payment for them is not cheap.

Isolation is not better than sunshine.

Isolation is not better than exercise.

Isolation is not better than laughter.

Isolation is not better than human interaction.

Whether or not we can make an immediate difference to the circumstances interfering with our free will and liberty as citizens of the United States, let us not repeat statements on the benefits of extreme lockdown mandates, shutdowns, mental health crises, threats of fines and jail time. Instead, it is time to recognize the absurdity and call it as it is.

I want to be clear that this is not me telling people you should not be wearing a mask, isolating, or having home gatherings in limited groups. I only want to make clear that these decisions should be made from deliberate consideration, not out of fear or mandate. You know your personal and family needs better than government officials.

I know it is likely this will be read by few people, but if it happens to be offensive to anyone I believe that is a sign of government manipulation of our minds.

The human spirit can endure in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear? Proverbs 18:14
